Brevard is a different climate

Transylvania County gets more rain than almost anywhere east of the Cascades. That single fact shapes what remodeling here looks like. Exteriors fail faster, decks and porches need more attention, and moisture management under and around a house is not an afterthought.

The housing runs to mountain homes and cabins on slopes, older in-town houses near downtown and Brevard College, and retirement properties in communities like Connestee Falls. A lot of the work is second-owner updating: a cabin bought in the 1990s that now needs current systems, a better kitchen and an exterior that will survive another twenty years.

What we do most in Brevard

Distance, handled honestly

Brevard is about forty minutes from our office, and we do not pretend that is the same as working in Arden. For projects here we stage materials on site, schedule full days rather than partial ones, and set expectations for supervisor visits accordingly. We take the work because we do it well, not because we can be there in ten minutes.

Permits

Building permits go through Transylvania County, with city zoning review inside Brevard limits. Some mountain communities also have architectural review covenants for anything visible from a road or neighboring property.

Frequently asked questions

Do you really travel to Brevard?

Yes, and we are straightforward about what that means: full-day scheduling, materials staged on site, and fewer supervisor drop-ins than a project fifteen minutes away. We do not charge a travel premium, but we do plan the job differently.

My deck is twenty years old. Repair or replace?

If footings, posts and the ledger are sound, we can reframe or re-deck. If the posts are undersized or the ledger was never flashed - common on decks of that age - replacement is the safe answer, and we show you why on site.

Is metal roofing worth it here?

In this rainfall and with this much tree debris, usually yes if you are keeping the house. It sheds needles and leaves instead of holding them, and lasts several times as long as asphalt.

Who issues the permit?

Transylvania County for building, with city zoning review inside Brevard limits. Some communities add their own architectural review, which is the homeowner's submission - we supply the drawings.
