Stone is heavy and unforgiving
A quartz or granite top loads a base run with several hundred pounds. If the cabinets are not level and anchored, or an overhang runs past what the substrate supports, the top either cracks or reads visibly off. We level and reinforce the base cabinets, add support brackets under overhangs past 10 inches, and set the template only after the sink and faucet are on site so the cutouts are right the first time.
Materials we install
- Quartz. Engineered, non-porous, no sealing. The default for kitchens with children and heavy cooking.
- Granite. Natural stone, every slab different, needs sealing once a year or so. Still the best value per square foot on many colors.
- Soapstone and marble. Beautiful and soft. We will explain how they age before you buy them, not after.
- Butcher block. Warm and cheap to replace, needs oiling and does not belong immediately around a sink without care.
- Solid surface and laminate. Budget-driven jobs and rentals, seamless options available.
Seams, edges and the sink
Seams get placed where the eye does not travel – not centered in front of the range. Edge profiles change the look more than most people expect, so we bring samples. Undermount sinks need the right substrate and clip system; a dropped undermount sink is almost always an installation shortcut, not a material failure.
We install countertops in Asheville, Hendersonville, Arden, Candler, Fletcher, Weaverville, Black Mountain, Mills River, Brevard and Waynesville.

Frequently asked questions
What do countertops cost installed?
Generally $60 to $130 per square foot installed. Quartz and mid-range granite sit in the middle; exotic natural stone and thick mitered edges sit at the top.
Quartz or granite?
Quartz for a hard-working kitchen - non-porous, no sealing, consistent pattern. Granite when you want a natural slab and are fine sealing it about once a year.
How long from template to install?
Seven to ten days for most fabricators. We template only after the sink and faucet are on site, because cutouts are made from the actual fixtures.
Do I need support under an island overhang?
Past about 10 inches of unsupported overhang, yes - steel brackets or a corbel system set into the cabinet. Skipping it is how island tops crack.
